I International Joint Conference of the Association of Eurasian Central Securities Depositories and the International Association of Exchanges of CIS took place on October 6-8, 2011 in Yerevan (Armenia). The subject of the conference was "Global Features of Local Markets: Infrastructure and Regulation". The conference was organized by the Central Depository of Armenia and the Stock Exchange NASDAQ OMX of Armenia.
The conference was attended by representatives of the Central Securities Depositories and Exchanges of the CIS, Europe and Asia, Thomas Murray, SWIFT, Euroclear and Clearstream.
The current issues on the establishment of correspondent relations between members of the Association of Eurasian Central Securities Depositories were discussed as well as strengthening international relations aimed at the development of national securities markets.
The key themes of the conference were:

  • regulation and development of securities market;
  • cross-border interoperability, and compatibility of exchange and depository activities;
  • global and local depository services;
  • global and local exchange services.
The reports and presentations were made by representatives of the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia, the Central Depositories and Stock Exchanges of the CIS, South Korea, India, Estonia, NASDAQ OMX, International organizations including SWIFT and Clearstream.
The Director of the RUE "The Republican Central Securities Depository" Valentina Timoshenko introduced the presentation on the depository system of the Republic of Belarus and its interaction with the government agencies and the members of the national securities market as well as she presented the report on "The Correspondent Central Securities Depositories and the Opening of Correspondent Nominee Accounts". The issues on opening a correspondent nominee account by foreign depositories in the RUE "The Republican Central Securities Depository" were disclosed.
